We have been growing garlic for the past nine years at Vibrant Valley Farm and it continually proves to be a staple in our rotation. We have partnered with other farmers, grown with youth groups and educational programs, and have spent years redefining our goals and roles as producers of this valued crop.

With diversity in who, in how and in the deep exploration in why we grow it- we have learned that garlic is a crop that assures we are working as the stewards we should be to the land. This stewardship has us deeply identifying ways in which we can care for the soil, search for regenerative ways to work land and raise the bar in our cultivating techniques.

Garlic is in the ground for over nine months of the year, in turn it ushers us into our best farming practices and care. When we planted our last crop in October 2020 we chose to change our growing techniques and stopped using plastic, in turn finding other ways to build the soil as we grew our crop. We managed weeds with flaming and built our top soil by adding a layer of heavy straw to our beds and diligently weeding to avoid weed seeds and long term consequences to the plots we grew it in.

2021 is our first year where we feel like we can share our seed crop and stand behind its quality, while having a quantity that can be shared far and wide with our community of farmers, gardeners and culinary crafters.

We are selling 7 varieties this year and are proud of the cultivars chosen and look forward to growing with you this season. Check out our farm shop and feel free to contact us with any specific questions or comments.
