Join us for a morning of Japanese Indigo dyeing at Vibrant Valley Farm! We’ll harvest fresh indigo leaves, dye silk scarves, and explore multiple pigment extraction methods with this incredible diverse plant. You won’t want to miss this beautiful summer evening of fun!
Tickets include instruction and artistic exploration of the indigo plant in fresh form as well as supplies which include: silk scarf and sample fibers, salt, water color paper, fresh dye how to guide, extraction samples/ pigment, and instruction from Kara Gilbert, owner of Vibrant Valley Farm.
Please wear farm appropriate clothes and a hat if you wish to shade yourself from the sun, along with a water bottle and snacks.

Let’s play with flowers and natural pigments!
Join us for a Saturday morning working with natural dyes and farm fresh flowers at Vibrant Valley Farm. We will explore bundle dyeing methods and play with pigment, color stories, and fresh flowers. We are also excited to be joined by Khefri Azure (flower farmer, therapists, birder and activist) for some bird watching after our class. We are continually blessed by the bird species we have here on site and Kefir is incredible at identifying and sharing her knowledge on a farm walk.
Tickets include a deep dive into natural dye methods and bundle dyeing techniques in exploration with sample pieces, and a cotton bandana that you will have dyed yourself to take home.

Exploring the VVF Rainbow
When: Saturday, June 29th | 10am-2pm
Explore the local color palette of summer in this low-water, high-impact workshop with plants and flowers freshly harvested at the farm. Including but not limited to marigolds, holly hocks, sulfur cosmos, coreopsis & Japanese Indigo!
What to expect:
We’ll spend the day harvesting fresh color from the fields, learn dye plant pigment chemistry, and complete a local color rainbow sampler with various fibers and mordants using a low-water, hands-on extraction method.
Bring: sun hat, water bottle, apron, sack lunch, shoes/ clothes suitable for dyeing.
Optional: U-pick dye plants for sale post-workshop.
